Silhouette eggs

These simple silhouette eggs are from the Newton’s Nook Easter Egg Builder set. The egg paper is also Newton’s Nook, from their Happy Easter paper pack. The solids are from my stash. I was inspired by Samantha Mann to use the white designs over the solid eggs, although her finished card is very different.

I promised an announcement about this blog. I set a goal for myself at the beginning of February to post content every day, and I only missed two days. However, it’s taken a toll on me. So I’m going to an every three days posting schedule, and may include other crafts besides cards. I hope you’ll continue to follow along, even though it will be less frequently. I really appreciate all my visitors and commenters.

Simple shaker

Not the most complex card I’ve ever done, and there’s a couple of ink smears, but I love those sequins so much I couldn’t resist using them again. The Happy Easter stamp is by Waffle Flower, and I colored it in with a Crayola colored pencil. The little eggs are from Newton’s Easter Basket by Newton’s Nook and all the ink is LDRS Creative La La Lavender. The sequins are Brutus Monroe’s Spring Mix. I’ll have an announcement tomorrow about the future of this blog, so stay tuned!

Repetition is the key

This card has a simple design-stamps from Lawn Fawn’s Celebration Scripty Sentiments and Hoppy Easter repeated in Gina K.’s Bubblegum Pink, Peach Bellini, Lemon Drop, Applemint, Sea Glass, and Lovely Lavender inks. The large Happy Easter is by Newton’s Nook and is mounted on a vellum shadow layer. Finally, I added sequins from Stage Lights by Trinity Stamps.

Hoppy days are here again

Hoppy Days Ahead is the name of the Simon Says Stamp set I used for the bunny and flower. I colored them both with Copic markers, although the flower didn’t dry to the shade I wanted. I used Newton’s Nook Oval Frames to cut Lawn Fawn’s Spiffy Speckled paper and inked the edges of the rectangle with their Sugarplum ink. Couldn’t find room for a sentiment, but I think the sweet bunny speaks for himself.

You’re on my mind

I have a friend who has been going through some hard times recently, and I’m hoping this card will cheer her up. I used the Concord & 9th On My Mind stencils, stamps, and dies, as well as their Briar Rose, Juniper, and Lemongrass inks and their Briar Rose cardstock.

Sorry folks

I’m really under the weather and don’t have anything new for you tonight. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Simple and charming

This card uses two new products from Newton’s Nook- their Card Layout 6 die and their Happy Easter paper pack. The aqua outline paper is from my stash and the sentiment is from Newton’s Easter Basket, stamped in Ranger Archival Ink in Aquamarine.

Hoppy Easter!

This Springtime Bunny is one of Lawn Fawn’s paper piecing sets. She was built on their double sided adhesive sheets with paper scraps from my stash. I love paper piecing-it reminds me of jigsaw puzzles, and it’s a great way to use up scraps. The eggs are in the same set, and I mounted them using foam squares on a hill cut from Lawn Fawn’s Flower Market paper with a sky from their Spiffy Speckles paper. The sentiment is from their Hoppy Easter set stamped in their Grape Soda ink.

Rainbow wishes

For the Lawn Fawnatics challenge #215 All Things Rainbow, I created this card using the Lawn Fawn Corner Rainbow and Rainy Sky stencils, as well as cloud and sparkle stencils I got when I took one of their classes. I used Hippo, Pink Flamingo, Sunflower, Jalapeño, Peacock, and Sugarplum inks. The unicorn and sentiment are from the My Rainbow set and colored with Copic markers RV21, YR16, Y13, G05, B14, and BV 13. Crystal Stickles were applied to the unicorn’s horn and hooves, and it was popped up on a foam square.

A tisket, a tasket

This card combines stenciling with paper piecing to convey the season without words. I stenciled the sky using Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Lawn Fawn’s Cloudy stencil, then trimmed it with Lawn Fawn’s largest Stitched Rectangle.I then inked a panel with Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough and trimmed it with the largest Stitched Rectangle and a Grassy Hillside Border. The basket is also by Lawn Fawn, their Eggcellent Easter Basket. I cut the outline from white and filled it in with the different colors. The large eggs are the Mini Egg set by Waffle Flower.

Looking at spring

Even though the official start of spring is over a month away, we’ve had spring-like temperatures here in North Texas-today it got up to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. So I thought this spring window from Honey Bee Stamps would “bee” just the thing.

Egg-stra special card

Newton and his friends want you to have a happy Easter on this card. I used the Newton’s Nook Springtime paper pad cut into banners and their Newton’s Easter Basket stamp. The image was colored with colored pencils and Stage Lights sequins from Trinity Stamps were added for accents. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Hopping into Easter

Now that Valentine’s Day is behind us, it’s time to turn our attention to other things. Although I do have a St. Patrick’s Day card planned, with Easter falling so early this year, I thought I’d begin posting my Easter selections. This adorable bunny is the Bunny & Carrot Fold-It card from The Stamps of Life. The fold is hidden behind his ear, allowing him to stand up. I used paper from my stash to piece him together.

Chunky hearts

A simple, graphic card for my final valentine of the year. The die I used is the CZ Designs Chunky Hearts Die by Simon Says Stamp. I cut the shadow out of vellum and the red and purple hearts from paper in my stash. The center shape is out of Lawn Fawn’s Pixie Dust cardstock and the frame is Simon Says Stamp Matte Silver cardstock. I then mounted the design on a pink A2 card from my stash using foam squares. Happy Valentine’s Day to all who celebrate!

Sweets for the sweet

On this card, I stamped candy hearts using Newton’s Nook Candy Heart stamp and Gina K. inks in Bubblegum Pink, Peach Bellini, Lemon Drop, Applemint, Sea Glass, and Lovely Lavender. The messages are stamped in Red Hot. I cut the hugs sentiment from the CZ Designs Basic Trio set out of white cardstock three times and stacked them up, then cut the sentiment and a background panel from Simon Says Stamp Matte Silver cardstock. I glued the silver sentiment on top of the stacked white sentiments and attached them to the trimmed out candy heart panel. I then glued the silver backer panel to an A2 card base and attached the candy heart panel on top with foam tape. I enjoy making my own custom patterned papers using stamps.

Not exactly needlework

For this card I used the Lace Heart Kaleidoscope background stamp from Simon Says Stamp and stamped it with my Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo ink. I stamped the Heartfelt Love stamp from Newton’s Nook on pink paper and heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Detail Powder in white, then cut it out using the scalloped heart from the Newton’s Nook Heart Frames set and adhered it to the kaleidoscope panel using foam squares. The sentiment is also from the Heartfelt Love set. This card reminds me of needlework, quilting and embroidery.

L-O-V-E!

.

A simple, yet bold sentiment on a stenciled background. The letters are from a die by Scrapbook.com out of Simon Says Stamp’s Matte Silver cardstock and the stencil is the Lots of Hearts Background stencil by Lawn Fawn. The pink hearts were stenciled with Lawn Fawn’s Plastic Flamingo ink and the silver hearts with Simon Hurley’s Lunar Paste in Silver Lining. The pink papers are from my stash.

Quatrefoil fun

I combined a stencil and stamp set to make this card, and used another set for the sentiment. The inks used were Gina K. Passionate Pink, Wild Lilac, and Red Velvet, and the stamp/stencil set was from Scrapbook and Cards Today. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. A somewhat unconventional Valentine!

Heart of Hearts

This card combines a stencil from Brutus Monroe with a stamp from Hero Arts. I started with pink cardstock and then stenciled with a darker pink, red, and purple. I added white splatters for some texture. The text stamp is embossed with white embossing powder on a slightly darker pink cardstock and fussy cut, then popped up on foam tape. The “sending love” sentiment is white heat embossed as well, but it thankfully has a die to cut the words out.

Watching the tide roll away

This card is an entry into the Lawn Fawnatics challenge #214-Inspired by a book, movie, or song. I chose the song “The Dock of the Bay” and ink blended a sunset and its reflection using No. 2 Pencil, Fake Tan, Chili Pepper, Sugarplum, Blue Jay, and Black Licorice inks. I cut a piece of Light Brown Woodgrain cardstock for the dock, and used the Friends Furever incentive stamp set for the cats, sun, and birds. A few tiny stars from my stash finished the scene. A peaceful scene in this hectic world.

For a dear friend

A dear friend of mine is having a birthday today, and her favorite color is pink, so I recreated this Gina K. card from the Crop & Create Spring 2023 event for her. It uses the Curved Floral Banner die and stencil, the Masks and Fillers stencil, Passionate Pink, Lucky Clover, Red Hot, Soft Stone, and Turquoise Sea inks, the Sweet Sentiments stamp set, and iridescent sequins.

Delicate Love

This is a departure from my regular style-but I learned new ideas making it at Crop & Create Spring 2023. Masking the sentiment panel to ink the edges is an idea I need to use more often. I had trouble using ink to paint the hummingbird, even though I embossed it first. It is a pretty card though.

Oldie but Goodie!

This is a card I made back in 2023 during a Crop & Create class with Simon Hurley. The blue background was created by pressing a texture stamp from my stash into warm Stamping Foam, then inking the foam with No Diving ink and pressing the paper on it. We also spritzed it with water. The stems of the flowers were stamped in Fake Plant, and the flowers themselves were done with Lunar Paste in Game Over. The sentiment was stamped in black , then embossed with clear embossing powder and cut out with the coordinating die.

A Peek Inside

Today I thought I’d give you a look at my workspace. The marker tower was handmade by a good friend, and the toolbox in the center was a Christmas gift from my sister. I use mugs that I love but that are unsafe to drink out of anymore to hold my blending brushes. Can you guess my favorite color?

Inky Paws Challenge #249

This Inky Paws challenge was a sketch challenge. I stenciled the background using the Newton’s Nook Snowfall stencil and soft blue ink,  then added paper from the their Snow Flurries pad. For the central design, I cut the Let It Snow shadow from vellum and the words from some plum paper I had in my stash. We may not get much more snow, but I’ve got cards just in case!

Happy birthday!

Another birthday card. I have several family and friends’ birthdays here at the beginning of the year. This is a Gina K inspired card as well, featuring the Fancy Feathers and Master Layout 2 dies, the Fizzy stencil, and Passionate Pink, Wild Lilac, and Turquoise Sea inks.

Happy Easter!

I did some tone on tone stenciling using the Pretty Pink Posh Layered Eggs stencil and Bubblegum Pink, Peach Bellini, Lemon Drop, Applemi...
